Cut and Mutilated Old Growth Juniper on the Big Sage Allotment Juniper Thinning Project
Phase I, Modoc National Forest, 2012
These are just a few pictures of the 420 cut down and 81 mutilated old growth juniper
that we photographed on only 50.9 acres of the Forest Service’s 1,200 acre young
juniper thinning project. Notice the distance between the piles of old juniper in
the background of many images. This was an old growth woodland that should not have
been cut down by the Forest Service. Increments on the measuring stick are six inches.
