Illegal firewood cutting along Power Line Road extends now out to seven miles west
of Crowder Flat Road. October 2012.
The measuring stick has six inch increments.
These are images of 15 old growth western juniper that were illegally cut on the
Modoc National Forest during two weeks in October 2012. They were in an untouched
old growth woodland about seven miles west of Crowder Flat Road, one half mile south
of Power Line Road. Previously, the cutting of old growth juniper extended west 5.9
miles along Power Line Road.
Not one legal young juniper was cut in this area. Woodcutters who target only old
growth, as above, never make a mistake and cut a young juniper. They are able to
identify old growth juniper with 100% accuracy!
