West of Logan Slough, September 28, 2013 Update

October 19, 2012 we reported illegal wood cutting of old growth juniper in the west Logan Slough area to the Modoc National Forest. It was a new illegal old growth juniper wood cutting area at that time.

September 28, 2013, almost a year later, we visited the same area west of Logan Slough. We found eleven very old juniper trees had been recently cut by wood cutters. The cut old growth junipers ranged in age from over 300 years up to about 655 years. These old trees had been cut within the last month. The foliage was still green and pliable on the cut old trees.

The measuring stick has six inch increments.
